Indianapolis Colts split season series with Houston Texans
In Week 1, the Indianapolis Colts started their campaign to get back to the Super Bowl against the division rival Houston Texans. Even though the Texans always give the Colts a run for their money every single season, Matt Schaub and company have been unable to beat Peyton Manning’s squad until this Week 1 AFC South showdown.
With an extremely impressive performance from up and coming running back Arian Foster (231 yards and three rushing touchdowns) in Week 1, the Houston Texans were able to torch the Indianapolis Colts secondary on every single possession and come out with the win 34-24.

Once the game went final in Week 1, the Indianapolis Colts looked extremely flawed on the defensive side of the football and many people started to question whether or not they were the Super Bowl title contenders that everyone pinned them as before the NFL regular season began in September.
Fortunately, Peyton Manning and company were able to stay afloat heading into Week 8 where they would be given another opportunity to beat their division rivals in the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Even though some people believed that the Houston Texans may have finally figured out the Indianapolis Colts and how to beat them consistently, that wasn’t the case this past Monday for the Texans as four-time NFL MVP quarterback Peyton Manning wasn’t going to let the Colts lose this game.
Peyton Manning didn’t have the dominant performance he had in Week 1 against the Houston Texans when he threw for 433 yards and three touchdowns, but he did just enough to lead his team to victory as this time around the superstar quarterback threw for 268 yards and two touchdowns.
As he did in Week 1, running back Arian Foster had another solid performance with 167 total yards (102 rushing, 65 receiving) and a rushing touchdown, but despite being almost as elusive and as unstoppable as he was in their first meeting, it wasn’t enough to propel the Houston Texans to their second win of the season over the Indianapolis Colts.

With this 30-17 victory over their division rivals, the Indianapolis Colts were able to leapfrog both the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans to become the first place team in the AFC South division once again. Not only was this win huge for the Colts because they are back in first place, but it could be the turning point in the season for Peyton Manning and company as they might be able to reclaim that dominance they had last season despite being riddled with injuries on the offensive side of the football.
Even though beating the Houston Texans was a huge step forward for the Indianapolis Colts, they will have their work cut out for them throughout the rest of the NFL regular season as they still have to face teams like the Philadelphia Eagles (Week 9), New England Patriots (Week 11), San Diego Chargers (Week 12) and the Tennessee Titans (Week 14 & 17) twice.
